Lime Trude

Materials Needed:

Hook: TMC 100 #10-18
Thread: UNI 8/0 Black
Tail: Golden Pheasant Tippet
Body: Lime Green Rabbit Dubbing
Wing: Calf Tail
Hackle: Brown Rooster Hackle

Peel off a section of golden pheasant tippets and square the ends. Measure the tippets against the hook so they are a shank length long and tie them in at the bend. Wrap forward over the butts to the seventy-five percent point and clip the excess.

Dub a tapered abdomen from the base of the tail to the 75 percent point.

Cut, clean and stack a clump of calf tail hair. Measure the hair against the hook so it is a shank length long.

Tie the calf tail hair in at the front of the body with several tight turns of thread.

Clip the butt ends of the hair at an angle and wrap the thread over the stubs. Return the thread to the base of the wing.

Tie in two brown rooster hackles at the base of the wing.

Wrap the hackle forward from the base of the wing to the hook eye and tie them off. Clip the excess. Build a smooth thread head, whip finish and clip the thread.
